About this place
Mix the bowl well from the bottom to coat the house-made noodles in soy sauce tare. At Sansanto, abura soba offers a way to enjoy the springy noodles and rich sauce that differs from a bowl of ramen. Diners who have ordered a raw egg on the side have dipped the noodles in it to vary the flavour. On another visit, a diner dipped the noodles into the accompanying broth, which has a pronounced dried-sardine flavour, and ate them much like tsukemen. If you choose the abura soba, it may be worth switching up how you eat it from bite to bite.
For a soupy bowl, options include ramen, shio chuka soba and tsukemen. Diners have described the ramen as combining a broth layered with seafood umami and springy medium-thick noodles. A draft beer or oolong-hai can accompany a bowl. Some visitors have also ordered Santan-mori, or had chashu pork and menma as snacks, giving those who fancy a drink before their noodles another option.
The restaurant is open from 18:00 to 20:30 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. As service is limited to a short evening window, check the opening days before setting out.
